WACHA. FILEE. LET IT GO.

Happy 2013!!

Sorry for the long hiatus from the blog..a lot of things going on but I've got a lot lined up for the year!!!(..not to mention loads of photos waiting to be uploaded!! Will do that in a separate post, though. Consider this my "Hello 2013 post")

Sometime back, I met up with a friend for lunch and as yeast is to bread, our tête-à-tête didn't escape the 'relationship convo'..most female meetings don't! ha!
She didn't seem to quite understand the concept of moving on..or should I say MY concept of moving on which I prefer to refer to as letting go.
Her argument was, 'How can you talk about something or someone so passionately one minute and pretend they don't exist the next?'
This was in reference to something that had prevailed a few months back. Story for another day..I lie, never putting that in words:p
My defense; 1. It was not pretense..I merely faced up to the situation(hard as it was) and LET IT GO.
2. My award winning 'ockhams razor' principle which il explain later.
I'll stick to no.1 for the purposes of this post.
Letting it go.
Whenever I have to do the former, I always refer to this script I came across by TD Jakes.
I pray it helps those of you who don't necessarily understand the concept of 'Ockhams Razor' or those facing situations(not just in love relationships but work, family..life in general) that need to hit the road, now rather than later:)
Start the new year with a new lease of life!!
Ps..Ive emboldened it for a lil emphasis..lol.

There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can’t make them stay.

Let them go.

And it doesn’t mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you’ve got to know when people’s part in your story is over so that you don’t keep trying to raise the dead.
You’ve got to know when it’s dead.

You’ve got to know when it’s over. Let me tell you something. I’ve got the gift of good-bye. It’s the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It’s not that I’m hateful, it’s that I’m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He’ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don’t need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to……

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains…………

LET IT GO!!!

If someone can’t treat you right, love you back, and
see your worth…..

LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you.

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge……

LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction……

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents

LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude…..

LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better……
LET IT GO!!!
If you’re stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him……..

LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship…….

LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won’t even try to help themselves……

LET IT GO!!!

If you’re feeling depressed and stressed………………

LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying ‘take your hands off of it,’ then you need to…..

LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing for 2013!!

LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left … think about it, and then.

LET IT GO!!!

Me Me Me

We are naturally configured to do things that benefit us.
Im really trying to avoid the word selfish but if you really think about it, that's what we are..selfish. Humans are selfish beings more often than not extremely conceited, only doing that which accrues them profit.
..but, who can really blame them, Darwin did coin the 'survival for the fittest' theory.
Then again some really wise fellow came up with 'no man is an island' to try and introduce the concept of sharing.
Well, Ive recently been obliged with the task of drawing up resumes for that 'dream job' I hope to land to be able to cater to my refined savvy for the good things I covet.
In that course, I have learnt not to mention that I only need the job because I plan to save up and head out to the 'Maldives' in a year or two, or because the real estate on my way home drives me crazy and owning a chunk of it would do things I can't put in words to my ego.
I've also not mentioned that my wardrobe needs a makeover(like it usually does around this time of the year due to the festivities and unprecedented weight gains that come with the former.
My resume is lacking in things 'me'.
Why?
..because the employer doesn't give a hoot about my needs but what I can do for him before he tends to those.
Like 'me', he is looking to see what he can gain from my interaction with the company i.e. What can my brains do for him? What Im I bringing to the table..in this case, HIS table before I can talk about what id like on my own table.
Drafting the IT resume/cover letter can be a herculean task especially when it comes to coining the perfect words to create appeal so that the employer actually gets to the 'referees' bit of your resume.
When I say words, im not referring to the descriptive wiles some writers result to while trying to explain the simplest of things, for example calling the help/house maid a 'general factotum'.
No, im talking about basic language and highlights to make your resume stand out.

I came across a few documents to help with this..THIS was the best according to me but you can also check google and Victor Cheng..lol.:)
I hope it helps, atleast to a certain extent.
Also, do give tips and worthwhile advice for those who have been in the job market for a longer period;)

Photos of the day..,
These were taken a while back, last week (at the end of, well, a very crappy day,) but ive been a bit caught up to post.

On my mind..,

Look professional and stylish at work

Gone are the days when your work attire had to be dull and boring.  There used to be a time when work was work and play was play but now women everywhere can have fun with their wardrobe and inject some style into the office.  Stereotypically, work clothing comprises of a smart t-shirt or button shirt, with matching suit pants or a pencil skirt.  Popular colors include black, grey and white.  However, life is not just black and white – and neither is our personality.
Obviously there is a fine balance between experimenting with your dress sense and being too outlandish.  After all, work is a professional setting and you need to dress appropriately.  Your outfit is one of the first things someone sees which they will use to establish an impression of you.  So think to yourself, what reputation do you want to convey?  There is a way to look smart and qualified as well as stylish.  Here are 6 expert top tips:
•    Accessories
As dog is to man, accessories are a girl’s best friend.  They can completely transform and change a look.  If you do have a casual outfit which you need to make look chic, try to add a nice accessory like a glitzy necklace or an on-trend bag.  It will brighten up any dull ensemble and allow you to add a splash of color.  Why not add an embellished waist belt or printed scarf?

•    Blazer
The blazer is a must-have garment for any woman’s wardrobe.  By throwing a blazer over a t-shirt and jeans, you can create a cool but smart look.  It can also smarten up a casual dress.

•    Clean shoes
Battered shoes look scruffy and unprofessional so whatever you wear, make sure they are clean and polished.  If you want to wear flat heels, black boots tend to go with anything and are comfortable which is especially helpful to ladies who are on their feet all day.
Chloe boots
•    Peplum tops
These are autumn/winter 2012’s biggest trends and can transform your outfit from drab to chic.  Ultimately it works best with a skirt but it is a statement piece so use it with the simplest of items like jeans to add a dramatic, professional edge.  Keep the colors simple.

•    Versatility
By investing in plenty of staples, you will find it easier to mix and match your outfits so you are never wearing the same item over and over again.  Rather than buying lots of different items, invest in a couple that can be worn together so you can get maximum wear out of them.  For example – buy a simple staple shirt that can be worn with jeans and boots for a casual look or tucked into a pencil skirt for more formal occasion such as meetings or events.

•    Comfortable
You don’t want to be the person that’s staggering around the office because your heels are too high or struggling to sit down because your skirt is too tight!  Buy clothes that are stylish yet comfortable to ensure that you feel great at work.  If you feel unhappy in what you are wearing it is likely that you will probably feel miserable too and be unproductive!  A soft, stretchy sweater dress is a good example.

Conclusion…
You can be professional and stylish at work – all it takes it a little bit of know-how and creativity.  Showcase your individuality and love for clothing while maintaining your confidence.  If you look the part, you will feel the part.
I want ALL in this post save for the Chloe boots..I wouldn't know what to do with them!!

LEGGO

I was not very sure about the title of this post but I figured, hey, leggo!!(I even linked it..lol. such a shade I can be with slang).
I have tried many a thing in the short time I've been here on earth.
Some have failed, others have shocked me with the level of success they have garnered.
I remember, once, when I was 16, a friend and I made toothpaste in the chemistry lab.(this was in high school).
Mixed bicarbonate of soda and some other ingredients which I will not mention in case I have KeBS(Kenya Bureau of Standards) reader in the house:D. However, if you really want to try it, I shall scrounge the earth and e-mail it to you:)
Actually, its because I can barely remember them.

She joked about entering it in the science congress(a competition featuring science projects from various schools from all around the country) and to me, that was all it was, a joke.
This was until she told me she had submitted the idea and it had actually gone through. There was no turning back..we had to make another toothpaste sample.,so I put my all into it.
I believed in it so much that I made her brush her teeth in front of the judges when we got to the competition.(I'm sorry Melissa..lol)

We coined our presentation into somewhat a toothpaste ad. to add a little pizzaz to it and boy did it sell!
Beat 72 other schools to make it to the national congress and the rest, as they say, is history.

Everyday, we aspire to do a lot of things but can't quite get to it/them because of X/Y/Z or many other letters id rather not add to this equation.
However, if something is really important to you, or even if it means 0 to you but has to be done, get to it. Do it and do it boldly.
..and if its as boring as some projects may be, find a way to add a little spice to it.

Remember, Your conquest is a function of your boldness.
*ahem* To add a little spice(the real deal..not Royco) to this, the Lord says in Luke 10:19..I have given you power/authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all..
